Chris Pratt was born on June 21, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota. He grew up in Lake Stevens, Washington, where he was a wrestler and a football player in high school. He dropped out of college after one semester and worked as a waiter and a coupon salesman. He was discovered by actress and director Rae Dawn Chong, who cast him in her short film Cursed Part 3 in 2000. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
